چکیده
Abstract Background Hypokalemia is frequently found in patients with anorexia nervosa and sometimes leads to life-threatening conditions. Although their serum potassium levels are considered further decrease during refeeding, no previous studies have addressed actual changes the potential mechanisms underlying hypokalemia refeeding period of nervosa. In this study, we investigated factors associated Methods We recruited 52 independent from 89 admissions (body mass index, 13.0 ± 3.3) psychiatry unit Ashikaga Red Cross Hospital April 2003 March 2018 analyzed at admission. Of admissions, 66 > 1-week hospitalization were determine lowest period. these multiple linear regression analysis explanatory variables, including data upon admission treatment-related indicators. Results The initial level 3.6 0.9 mg/dl decreased 3.1 0.7 nadir hypophosphatemia, which was observed an average 2.5 days after A lower a body hypoalbuminemia, binge–purge behavior. Similar results obtained when included restrictive or types as well patient group. Conclusions Lower behavior might be used indicators guide clinical approaches for controlling refeeding. Gastrointestinal complications and refeeding guidelines in patients with anorexia nervosa.
Anorexia nervosa (AN) is the third most common disorder, after obesity and asthma, in the population of adolescents between 13-18 years of age. Food intake reduction is associated with whole body dysfunction, affecting its physical, psychological and social spheres. As a result of starvation, dysfunction develops in virtually all systems and organs. However, most frequently patients with AN com...
متن کاملRefeeding Hypophosphatemia in Adolescents With Anorexia Nervosa
The rate of adolescents presenting with anorexia nervosa (AN) is increasing. Medically unstable adolescents are admitted to the hospital for nutrition restoration. A lack of global consensus on appropriate refeeding practices of malnourished patients has resulted in inconsistent refeeding practices. Refeeding hypophosphatemia (RH) is the most common complication associated with refeeding the ma...
متن کاملBody mass index and daily physical activity in anorexia nervosa.
The level of daily physical activity in 11 non-hospitalized women with anorexia (age: 21-48 yr, body mass index (BMI): 12.5-18.3 kg.m-2), compared with 13 normal-weight women (age: 20-35 yr, BMI 19.2-26.7 kg.m-2), was studied in relation to BMI. Daily physical activity over a 7-d period was determined from movement registration and by combining measurements of average daily metabolic rate (meas...
متن کاملChanges in resting energy expenditure and body composition in anorexia nervosa patients during refeeding.
Accurate prediction of the energy level necessary to promote weight restoration in patients with anorexia nervosa would be clinically useful. Resting energy expenditure (REE), respiratory quotient, and body composition were measured in 10 nonmedicated women with anorexia nervosa during a vigorous refeeding protocol. REE was measured three times per week by open-circuit indirect calorimetry afte...
